I took a trip to Korea but I didn't go to the demilitarized zone or eat dog. I went to the amusement park Everland. Everland is the second cousin to Disneyland and it had a zoo. Where giraffes can get close enough to lick you. And big cats can be seen laying around sedated. I took a trip to Korea but you already know that. Where was I then? Oh ... yeah. The bears. The bears spun logs around their necks, and walked on their hind legs next to the van. One even dunked a basketball in a pool. I never knew this but, Everland is where all the circus bears from China go to retire. Kam-sa-ham-ni-da.

Backstory ...

Two years ago Hiss fell off his bike in the rain on the Lefty O'Doul Bridge in San Francisco and broke his wrist. After an x-ray confirmed his swelling suspicions he started to compose organ music for one hand. One day while playing a Wizard Of Oz slot machine inspiration struck and he wrote the silent film One-Handed Witch. Shadow puppet artists, Rita Deiola and Sara Draghi from Italy were coerced to film it. In the end it worked, like a well orchestrated spell.

Post the One-Handed Witch premiere in Oakland, Hiss wrote an additional piece of music for a BONUS scene that was previously acted out on stage. The title was influenced by the news, gun control, and things you can do with one hand. The title: Shoot Marbles Not Guns.

You guessed it. The organ music for One-Handed Witch was written for one hand. An organist of exceptional skill can play the entire organ score with one hand tied behind their back.
